speaker-matching transformers: can I install them beside each other? - Click HERE for Original Thread

here's the link: http://www.hammondmfg.com/collins.htm

I've read that chokes and power transformes must 90degrees to each other (I think this is meant for EI core only) and must some distance from each other.

But I'm not sure if this rule is for any kind of transformer.

I needed the hammond so that I can use low-impedance headphones on my headphone amp.

thank you.

Hi Jarthel,

The short answer is that it will be OK to mount the transformers in any orientation with respect to one another.

The longer answer is that there will be a small amount of orientation dependant coupling between the transformers as not all of the magnetic field will be contained within the core. But for the case of output transformers, a small amount of coupling will not degrade channel seperation to any significant degree.

Cheers, Ralph
