8P Din Cord for Nakamichi Stereo - Click HERE for Original Thread
gixxer1k
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a place I could get an 8P Din Cord for my Nakamichi Stereo. Here is a pic of the connection. I called Nakamichi USA and they referred me to the parts department and said the cost would be $128!!!! Is that correct? Its just a simple cord. What are your thoughts?

Hello Gixxer !

That connector is "mini-DIN". Nothing really special. $128 is a true rip-off for that replacement cable !
I advice you to start experimenting, and make a cable for yourself !

Regards.

That does not look the same as a normal 8 pin din. the 2 rows of 3 look the same length, where normally they are spaced differently. possibly this has been done to force you to buy that cable.

what does that cable do anyways?

When all else fails, use a standard 9-pin serial connector.

Those were used on ancient Logitech mice too. Check at a second hand store for one.

That's not a PS/2 connector, if that's what you're thinking. Mini-DIN's are a bit more rare.

Nope, pre PS/2 connector... think mouse card for '286 and 8088. I had one ;)
