[SLF-1 Crossover Card Question]: Orion 250 HCCA - Click HERE for Original Thread
calebb
Hey everyone - long time reader, first time poster here.

Background Info: Feel free to jump ahead to my question if you want
I had an HCCA 225 for ~6 years pushing a single Rockford Fosgate 15" DVC. Well... I moved to a new town - and apparently crime is a lot higher here. They stripped my truck of any car audio equipment after I was here for 2 weeks. (minus the 5.25" MB Quart components in the door)

So - I won't park in the park & ride anymore and I bought a car alarm and I'm slowly rebuilding my system since I definitely enjoy quality music while I drive.

Anyway, I replaced my headunit with a decent (not top of the line) Alpine CDA-9856. It has 3 sets of RCA outs - the subwoofer line outs are 4 volt.

I just scored a great deal on an HCCA 250 (gen 2 or 3? It says Competition Amp/Digital XOver on the front plate) off Craigslist.

The only thing is... It just has two bypass cards under the front plate. On my 225, I had two slf-1 crossover cards for the 24db per octive EQ slope. I believe I had the crossover set at 80Hz? Possibly 120Hz...

I'm going to be pushing a single JL Audio 12W6 (6 ohm DVC wired to 3ohms) in a custom box that I built. (yes I realize the HCCA 250 is a little overkill, but I won't be overpowering the sub: it can handle 300 wrms)

Here comes my question:

Do you think the crossover in the head unit is adequate for the subwoofer? Or should I email Orion and see if I can buy a couple SLF-1 crossover cards? Or is it possible to "built" your own crossover card? (I won't be installing it until next weekend)

Thanks in advance!
