Andrew, try this link:

I have no idea what that thing is, although it does look a lot like a tasty chocolate.

Hi,
I saw another thread suggesting that a manufacturer was hiding the components to protect their sales potential.

Seems the same here.

It could include SMD inductors, RC snubbers, VDRs, etc all neatly potted and then coated. or much simpler.

I know it wont have inductors has Russ Andrews does not like adding inductance on any circuit.

Also his cheaper Super clamp comprises of a VDR and Transient diode in series.

This may have a Gas discharge device inside. It wont have a VDR/MOV has he says this technology (used in telecoms and aviation industries) does not wear out after a period of time as VDR/MOVs do)

After hours of searching all I can find for the telecoms and aviation industry is the GAS arrestors. Using these on there own on the mains trips the mcb and rcd due to the large short current when plugged in.

Maybe its a GAS and transient diode in series. mmmm
