First I want say thank you to Perry Babin for his continued help with all my questions and to everyone else who gave helpful input on many of my amp repair questions.
I have recently picked up a Orion 2150SX as a matter of fact its the exact 2150SX that is in the ampguts pics , the 1 that actually has the heatsink. anyway I got the amp as another project repair and so far all is going good just 2 questions. first there is a capacitor right next to the remote turn on wire that was obviously replaced with a 100uf 50V cap I was wondering if anyone would know if this is the correct value for this capacitor if not what is the correct value please ?
Second : the smaller Torroid that connects the power wire to the large Torroid has some burn marks on it from overheating , since all the wires on this torroid are soldered together at both solder points all the wires carry the same current right? it is only connected through the positive wire. or does this torroid need to be rewound ? or can I get away with still using this 1 ? During several tests it has seemed to perform ok but I want to make sure.
Thank you
redblaze
P.S
the 280GX that I was completey rebuilding works flawlessly thank you again for your help , not sure if i had posted the outcome of it. |

The original cap was a 100uf 25v. A 50v cap is OK.
The toroid you mentioned is an inductor. Are the burn marks superficial or is the coating flaking off of the wire?
Are the windings shorted to the core? |

| The burn marks have taken a small part of the coating off the individual wires but they do not appear to be shoreted |

| From your description, the inductor is likely OK. |
