Hi,
I am planning to put 8 x UCD180s in one for my HT project. They will be powered up by 2 sets of SPS80.
Any comment on how i should wire them up? I plan to place them vertical parellel to each other. Is this OK |

Only one comment...
For UcD180 use, the SPS80 PSU must be configured to +/-45V approx. Please tell us at time of ordering so we can do this modification (for free, of course). Ackcheng did, of course ;)
If I were you, I would wire the modules with not too thick wire (1.5mm2 is ok) twisting the three leads (+, GND and -) together, and run the input leads as separate from the supplies and high current wires as possible, but that's common stuff, you know. |

Would you please care to explain your dislike of "too thick a wire"? Do you find it ruins the audio in some way, or did you simply recommend that because he's trying to wire 4 channels per supply?

| It can be a real pain if you use solide core, stranded Litz is alright though |

| Will certainly separate the power supply from the output. But I don't understand why UCD design the module with the power supply and output right next to each other? |

To keep loop area minimal, all inputs /outputs are taken from the same side, it actually reduces EMI.
The small signal high impedance inputs are still slightly apart from the high power connections |

Honestly, I found it doesn't make much a difference either way. Right now I have one connected to chassis and the other floating, it's been like that for a month and I haven't bothered to fix it... sounds the same. Might be different with a case though.
It won't hurt to try both, but I guess it'll depend on your source/ground loops etc too |

I would use not too thick wire because for the kind of power level you will get wit UcD180 you don't need too much section, the run will be too short to have any significant resistance, anyway.
And running / twisting 3 x 1.5mm2 flexible wire is much easier ;-) |
