Reclocking Mac Mini Intel - Click HERE for Original Thread

My planned system includes Tascam CDRW2000>Motu Traveler Soundcard (via Mac Mini Intel)>Amps. This is a pcxo setup with the soundcard and Tascam CDP sync via an external wordclock generator. Suppose I still want to use CDs as the source and want to eliminate the Tascam. In other words, use the cdrom of the Mac Mini. Would it be possible to modify the Mac Mini to bypass its internal clock, adding a wordclock input to allow external sync of the Mini internal cdp and the soundcard?

if the mac mini plays cds by extracting the digital audio data and playing it through the soundcard dac, it will be in sync if the soundcard is synchronized.

if it plays the CDs via the cd player's spdif digital output, you'll have to hack the player.

but why CDs ? can't you rip them to your harddisk ?

car audio competition requires cds :-) Other wise it would be simple.
