Hi there,
Just a simple one; for input source switching in an integrated NIGC, I want to use a simple Alpha rotary switch. Should I use a break before make switch, or will this cause noises like when used in a stepped attenuator?
Cheers

| Break before make is fine for source select. ;) |

| Try some quality rotary switch like Lorlin,CK.... |

Hi,
break before make will leave the input disconnected for a short while.
Is the amplifier stable when the input is left floating?
Some inputs need to see a lowish source impedance/resistance to remain stable. |

.... or an Elma 04-1261. Got mine from Michael Percy. The Alpha can be very fickle and had one that lasted a month as it just gouged tracks.
The LM3875 NIGC I have has no problems with a break before make switch.... not a peep. |

Sorry guys; I hadn't noticed you'd replied since my last post.
I ended up leaving the amp with only one input at this stage (my first build) so as to concentrate on getting all its general operation correct first. It's now running well.
I've changed my mind to build a simple and separate pre-amp so that I can incorporate a phono stage and a remote volume control.
Andrew, thanks for the input again - I'll keep that in mind.
Cheers
