help on choosing a 1kw amp or better - Click HERE for Original Thread
Hayden
I need an amp no eq or balance anything like that just the amp alone, its for my 15” I have never built a decent amp before but I do fix electronics for a job, I was wondering is it really involved and hard to build? And how expensive is it? they say around $1000?

Or is it worth buying a ready made one?

or is this a better choice? it said 1000w rms but I don’t believe that because of the price??

Not sure what you mean by "help on choosing a 1kw amp or better" as the power has nothing to do with quality but to build a good 1 kW amp takes a fair amount of skill and most likely will be nowhere as good as a unit you buy ready-made. Say the Behringer EP2500 which is a decent amp and it's priced at USD 330 at PartsExpress. Hard to beat. It'll give you 2*750 W into 4 Ohms or 2.400 W bridged into 4 Ohms bridged and it does from the measurements I've seen.

Or the new Dayton which offers some nice controls and EQ:

go for qsc rmx 1850 HD for good bass quality, cca. double the price of behringer but better (overall) quality. But perhaps fan noise may be an issue.

Building such a thing at home is for experienced diyers only

even less tha double the price of behringer

going for plx series wont make any harm

@ deiksac bass quality? (I am a quality man all the way) BUT hummm 2 15” thunder9500 running 1000-2000watts in my place I don’t think you would be able to appreciate the sound quality with all the things vibrating and rattling, I’d rather more power than sound quality in this situation, the thunder9500 aren’t really a sound Q subwoofer.

I was planning to run the 2 channels around 1000-1500wrms, I’m not interested in features just 2 gain knobs are enough for me, the fan noise doesn’t worry me as long as its not on constant and no louder than a 80cm computer fan.

The QSC PLX1802 is a bit to expensive for me my budget

Thanks again:)
