What to tune my enclosure to? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I am building a sub and I need help choosing a tuning frequency.

Here's what I got:

--Dayton DVC 15" (Tempest clone)
--250 watt Rhythmik Audio amp
--250 liter ported enclosure

What would be a good tuning frequency for this project, and how do you decide on a tuning frequency?

--Thanks

Hey rocko,
Didn't you model with a 200l box and get 19Hz below? My winISD doesn't have the dayton; what does yours suggest?

From the curve in your thread below, I think you could go a little lower, maybe 15Hz, but I'm far from the most experienced here :)

Do you have WinISD Pro? If so, just click (new project) then click (new) and add the following parameters in there for the 15" Dayton DVC (model: DVC385-88).

Qes = .39
Qms = 12.28
Fs = 20.4 hz
Vas = 9.92 cu. ft.
Mms = 197 grams
Re = 2.6 ohms
Le = 1.81 mh
Xmax = 15.1 mm

WinISD will automatically calculate the other parameters that you do not enter.

OK, it gives an freq of 20.88Hz, but IMO the curve could be flatter at 24Hz. It's all +/- 1db. What are your goals?

With a 4" wide port of 3.75" you would have a tuning freq. of 23.92Hz, f3 around 21.5. You can bring your f3 down to 20.5 with a tuning of 20.88Hz, vent 4" by 5.83" :)

I like organ music so this is the direction I would lean.
