Hi, people

My name is Mário, live in Florianopolis, Brazil. My city is also knowed as Floripa, and is sitted in the southern part of Brasil.

First and foremost, sorry for my English, long time since I used it for the last time.

Ex-student of mechanical engenniering, love to hear music, play squash and spend time with my 2 y´old son.

I am here because a friend of mine told me that THIS IS the place
to read, learn and exchage experiences related to fullrange speakers and D class amplifiers, the things I am looking right now.

I want to build a Solo 206 from Tony, and to buy a Charlize to go with it, in the hope of achieving a mid-fi, relaxing and warm sound, to listen to Rush, Led Zep, Pat Metheny, Dennis Chambers, and so on.

That´s it, and it is nice to be here.

Cheers!

Welcome Mario,

Your friend is right, this is THE PLACE to be. Led Zep, Pat Metheny are two of my faves as well. Good luck with your projects.:)

Enjoy,

Pat Metheny has indeed nice music. I own 'American Garage' and 'Offramp', both on LP.

Enjoy your stay and keep us posted on your progress.

Welcome Marioalfeu

Does this friend of you happen to be Holbein Menezes? I am the guy who sold him the pair of fostex - I sent him an e-mail, but he didn't reply.

Hello Erik,

No, my friend is not Holbein, but I know him, but only from emails exchanged.

I can tell you that in Holbein's homepage (www.audiodicas.com.br/) his is letting everybody knows that he is retiring, and returning to his home land, Ceara.

That's why, perhaps, he did not returned your emails.

Altought, there is a picture of the Fostex and a mention of your name in his last article he writed.

The man is a genious, and I am very sorry for not meet him in person!:bawling:

Hope I helped, even if with bad news.

Write him again, mate!

Ah, Hugo, all Pat in CDs, but had New Chautaqua in LP, and was Excelent, but had to go to a very good friend of mine!

All best, Mário Alfeu

Welcome to the forums Mario.

Thanks, Cal!!!

How is the weather in British Columbia, sunny? Playing some golf, perhaps?

Have a good friend of mine in Winnipeg, and he writes me that when the sun apears, everybody rushes to do outdoor sports. But, in the winter, he stays in a squash court...

The weather here is excellent. We have had a very dry summer but not too hot. Our daytime highs are still around 20 - 25C and overnight to about 10C.

Winnipeg has a much different climate than here on the coast. They go from too hot to too cold in a matter of weeks. They have a real winter. They have snow.

We golf in the winter if it's not raining. I wish I were golfing but alas, my girlfriend bought a "handyman's special" house so that is keeping me busy. Have to get ready for the rainy season.

How about you?
marioalfeu
Very well explained. I did not know the differences between Canadian climate.
But, of course, the sea plays a very important role in this situation.

Florianopolis is an island, located in the south part of Brasil, 27º50' latitude south and 48º25' longitude west. So we have a subtropical climate.

We have well distinguished summer and winter, going from 28-31C beetween november-march, and 8-15 on winter, june to august.
Note that we do not have heating on our homes, so, my dear friend from Winnipeg felt a lot of cold in our winter. Mostly because the humidity is on the air, and not in form of ice or snow.

The rain is well distributed on all year, but we are having a dry season, damaging the agriculture.

Alast, seems to me that you are working a lot on the roof.

All best, Mario Alfeu

Hi Mario

I actually forgot your reply, sorry! And now, thanks for giving it (I mean
the extensive reply)!

I just read his last article at audiodicas. I too find it a sad thing he is stopping with writing and reviewing, but he has the right to do so! Well, he is 80 years, or more!? He says he will live for another 15 years...that gives me plenty of time to visit him in Ceará. I already have my plans to make a long journey through the north and northeast of our loved country - and enrolling a visit to dear Holbein should surely be done!

I'll write him again. Now.

abraço

Erik

It is just Okay, Erik!

I´m glad to hear that you will make a trip to Brasil, and visit Holbein!
I´m also sure that he will like it a lot, because he surelly is a very nice guy.

Abraços para você também! Aliás, entendes português?

All best, Mário

Olá Mario

Sou brasileiro... I was born and raised up in Carambeí, a small city, once started as a Dutch colony. Close to Ponta Grossa-PR. Now I am living in the Netherlands for almost 6 years, mostly to study, but also to live. The longer I live here, the more I want to make a very long travel trough Brasil...you just learn to appreciate something when you are far away from it!

Abraço

Erik

Like Lennon once said,

You don´t know what you´ve got until you loose it...

Legal saber que és brasileiro!

Um abraço para você!

Hope you can make this trip very soon!!!
