SI Distortion Problem - Click HERE for Original Thread
Davet
I made the mistake ':hot:' of inverting the input voltage to my modified SI (input caps and increased tank capacitance). The unit still plays, but with distortion if the volume is turned up. ':bawling:'

If the DC current from the baterries exceeds 0.12 amps I hear distortion. The sound will drop in and out (clips) if the volume is turned up too loud.

I suspect the problem may be diodes or the chip itself, but I really don't know. I have two other units I can mod, but I am just curious as to what may be the problem with this one.

Does anyone have any idea why the amp "clips"?

TIA
