Capacitors and tubes for AA5? - Click HERE for Original Thread
2litre
Hi all,

This may not be the best place to ask this but it's a place I know.

I'm finally going to try my hand at tubes and have an old Admiral all american 5 tube AM radio as my first recap / troubleshooting guinea pig.

It is chock full of old wax caps with values like .1mfd and .047mfd and right now I've robbing the tubes from another radio so I'll need new small tubes too, like 12BE6, 12BA6, 12AT6, 50C5 and 35W4.

Any recommendations on a 'one stop shopping' place for all these items?

Antique Electronics Supply www.tubesandmore.com is a reasonable place to get this stuff. A little pricey, but good customer service.

2litre,

Check out Jim McShane's site. His prices are FAIR and the service is excellent.

IMO, THE place to take your AA5 questions to is Max Robinson's Fun With Tubes YAHOO Group.

BTW, your "neighbor" in Poulsbo, Dan Schmalle (AKA Doc Bottlhead) knows a thing or 2 about old radios. Doc is BUSY, but ...

wa2ise, I have your site in my favorites. That's how I knew it was an AA5. Good site!

Eli, thanks for the info. Although I know of him I never thought about Doc. That would be like asking a Porsche dealership a question about my VW Bug if you know what I mean. What the heck, I just might.

Thanks guys.
