| This lens is a charles beseler 18" EF Series III, with nice glass except that there are some chips around the edges; the largest of the chips is shown here... so is this lens junk? or can I still use it for a DIY setup? |

| It's fine. Chips on the edge won't show up in the projection unless they are REALLY big. |

| Fill the chips with black paint to avoid any spurious diffraction (old photographer's trick;) ). |
