Finished my Subwoofer! - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hey all,

So about 2 months ago i bought a Kicker Comp C12 subwoofer for home use (cant find a sub with T/S parameters here exept car subs).
2 days ago i went to order the MDF and get it cut, total cost for the box was 70 NIS = $15. i was surprised that it was so cheap. yesterday i went to my dad's friends workshop and built the box, i used 17mm MDF and the box volume is just over 35L (1.25 cubic ft).

This thing has lots of bang for you buck, it can push a hell of alot, and the bass deep and tight, i am very pleased with it! :)
its a great subwoofer.

so here is a pic for you to see it

Thanks,

Hi David,

If it sounds good don't worry about the finsh. That's for later. Function over form.

Enjoy. :)

Cal Weldon,
I like you approach, function over form! :)

I think for now i will keep it the way it is, school starts in a weeks time and i dont want anything to to bother my concentration on school, next holiday (in about a months time) i might concider painting it or something!

Thanks for the reply's!

What did you use for a crossover? Looks good though.

basstib,

I built a 2nd order low pass filter 60-250hz it also has boost from 15-150hz, phase from 0-180 degrese, Q, volume and 10x gain. it workes very well, i can fine tune evrything to get what i want out of it.

here is the filter diagram:

Enjoy

Sorry folks, I'm obsessed with the floor. :xeye: I have only ever seen a floor like that in a hospital, school, mental institution or government office. So which one is it?

BTW nice sub :)

Shawn.

speekergeek,
The whole house shakes!! :D i love it, really tight bass.

Shawn,
The floor that you see is what we have in evry home here in israel, exept for the newer ones (from about 4 years ago) which are not as ugly.. i live in a relatavly old building, so i got the old tiles.. lol

Hope that helps you...

David,

I'd like to build this one as well, for some experimenting, but there are some values I don't quite get... Espacially the C's..
0.10, 0.047, 0.022 etc.... is that in pF or uF?
And the potmeter for the 4th order, that's a quad one, right?
And the 301 resistor right at the output?

I'll take the 4k7 at the end out, and the whote 'top' of the scheme (The auto power thinggy)

Thanks,

Paul

PS: Sorry to hijack your thread...

:smash:

bibster,
all caps are all in uF values, BTW the pots are conected wrong, the middle connector of the first pot should be conecter to the left connector.. if you understand me corectly.. the drawing is upside down

never been good at drawing like this Lol.

The 301 resistor i left out
for 4th order use a quad pot
for 2nd order use a dubble pot and take out one of the cut off sections!
i kept the 4.7k at output, and also removed the auto power on circuit.

its a great filter, works very very well with my sub. now all i need is more power ( my parallel OPA541 amp aint enough) so i might go with a BPA-200 using 6xLM3886 chips..

Hope i was able to help you! :)
if you need any more help, im here..!

Update!

So my sub has been working well, but i started to notice that the speaker would jump a hell of alot but ddnt hear much of the bass it sound put out, then i realized it was sounds under 20Hz, and sometime the sub would jump too much and it ddnt sound too good, so i built ESP's P99 Subsonic/Rumble filter, conected it between the volume pot and the first stage of the filter, and it works much better, dosnt jump as much (alot less) but yet the bass is still tight and deep just like befor (i think even better lol). the cut off fq' is at 17Hz.

Just wanted to update y'all.. :)
Thanks,
David Resnik
