| I searched all over this forum and the net, but I can not find any suppliers for good sized heatsinks in Canada. Do any of you Canadian builders out there have a good source? |

| If you can live with non-eloxed heatsinks, then for me the best solution was to find a dealer of industrial or off-the-factory alu-profiles, they usually have some standard heatsink types in stock and they will cut it for you. |

There is a guy in Michigan, who works for a foundry. he sells heatsinks on ebay.
he is allowed to run the foundry hardware in his own time and creates and sells many heatsinks on ebay.
BEST prices on the planet.
search him out. |

eloxing means anodizing, matt black layer on alu
non-eloxed = bare alumium |

Let me tell you this:
this guy I mention, his quality is as good as anything that can be bought, period.
And, his pricing is so good, that as a manufacturer, if I was going to buy heatsinks, I wouldn't go offshore, I wouldn't go to wakefield, I'd go to this guy.
Seriously.
I'm talking about enough anodized black heatsink to do a pair of 200 watt single ended Pass monoblocks, for $50-75. max. |

You want heatsinks, you go to this guy. Anything you want, as long as you want big, for big power, you'll have it made in the shade.
Ok. so I exaggerated on the price a bit. (he gave me quanity pricing). Your numbers, with single purchase, will obviously be higher.
Send him an email if you want to buy larger lots, buy off ebay. he's fine.
Quote from his ebay sale:
"I have unlimited stock of this so large buys are possible"
As I said, he makes it himself. |

Thanks people.
I am looking for places in Canada, because I ordered equipment off of Tequipment.net and had to pay big customs fees. |

All electronic parts inc. heatsinks are NAFTA duty free from USA ... That guy in Michigan is a good bet.
The company I work for ships packages to and from Canada, east and west, for about US$20 per 5 pound box ... Check out UPS and DHL and FedEx "ground" or "standard" rates. The US Postal Service in even cheaper, but requires a lot of extra paper work for the shipper.
:)
......... The parts in this container contain NAFTA Duty Free electronic parts and accessories ....
You may still have to pay sales taxes, but not duties ... unless you reside in taxsucking Montreal ... |

Sooner or later, the link will go down, so for reference purposes, the guy on ebay whom I refer to, his handle is 'barrredboss'. |

So, is this ebay guy the only good source of heat sinks in US?
I searched through tons of pages and didn't find any good
on-line shop in US for heat sinks. The only attractive source
is Conrad but it's in Australia and shipping cost to US is too
much. Any link/address of such shop in US would be
very helpful. |

I ordered some Fischer Electronik SK109s from http://www.icsstock.com/ :D they are in Chandler, Az but they may have other offices close to you... I happened to be in the area :D Their quote was aboute half what any big dist. would charge for an equivalent Aavid or Wakefield unit :D They said small orders are fine! However, they also said 2-3 Weeks and today is 3Wks...
Check them out  http://www.fischerelektronik.de/ look at the extruded pages 23-24-25 for the big stuff. They have some really high performance welded versions also :D :D :D |

I visited that site. It's so confusing. I couldn't find
any heat sink info there (pictures etc.). Could you
give me a link to such page on that site ? Thanks
a lot! |

KOHTOPA, I did :D Go to the Fischer Electronik site. It's German but, click on the little Brittish flag for english. Follow the extruded heatsink links on the left of the page, or the pictures. When they ask for parameters just click "search" and you can see all the profiles... The big stuff is on pages 23-25.
When you find some stuff you like, you can call or email ICS with the profile number and available lengths you want for a quote. I found that the 1 meter length was not cheaper than several 200mm lengths??? I got 4, SK109, 200mm, Anodized Blk $62USD ea.   |

Hi KBK,
I've been shopping around. That is a very good price - US$24 for a 6"X2"X12" heat sink. But I hate eBay, I'm not going to give them my credit card etc. just for registering.
Do you mind posting his email address? I think he wouldn't mind as you're promoting his business. |

Use your ISP's email and verify your address by postal mail, and you don't need a credit card to register. |
