What are the better choice for a TUBE MICROPHONE PREAMP?
Is Polystyrene better than polypropylene?
Does tube heat can really melt polystyrene caps?

Lots of questions, I know.....

If any other cap types, let me know...

Capacitors choice is not easy and in big part depends on the rest of your system. Jensen copper foil caps are pretty popular among tube enthusiasts and they sounded better to me than MIT RTX. I had to add small silver foil bypass cap to Jensen to achieve high frequence extention and resolution. My other favourite is Hovland. Lots of people recommend Cresendo from northcreekmusic.com

Dr. J. at www.soniccraft will soon be offering the "Soniccap" which by all reports is superior to my favorite PPMF and may put the fear into the Theta.

Price is slightly more than PPMF and significantly less than Theta.

You can find out more by going to the Madisound board at: http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/discuss.cgi and searching for "sonniccap".
