93C66B EEPROM and forgetful memory - Click HERE for Original Thread

Our cash boxes at work use the 93C66B serial eeprom to hold their electronic id. The problem is, when we electrically connect and disconnect the cash boxes from their computers after many times, the eeproms keep getting a few of their memory locations changed, and if even one memory location is bad, the cah box won't work. Is there a more "robust" eeprom that is compatible with the 93C66B?
