Input transformer for Inverted GC - Click HERE for Original Thread

I want more gain from my inverted GC but I do not want to add buffer or tube buffer, want to keep it as pure and simple as I can.

So is 1:4 input transformer works for my inverted GC, if yes what is the input Impedance work for the application?

Bad idea. The reflected input impedance is likely to overload the source. What's wrong with the chip providing gain?

As much as i like transformers they seldom provide voltage gain for free.

Dear Analog- Sa

I am using OPA541AM ship and having problem with it gain.

Firstly, I used common inverted GC schematic which have 22X gain and I got problem with high frequency distortion.

So I reduce the gain to 12X and very satisfy with its sound but not its gain coz I use it with step as passive volume.

I want to reduce the gain to 10X and adding one input stage but still want to keep it passive.

Any suggestion?

The high frequency distortion is probably intermittent oscillation.

What might help:

- PS bypassing on the chip pins
- output Zobel
- small resistor in series with output
- a better grounding scheme

Or changing the speaker cables.

Can you explain more on these term?

- PS bypassing on the chip pins
- output Zobel

Small 33pf to 100pf between +ve and -ve inputs...

Zobel:Rc network 2.2ohms/2watts and 100Kpf across the output

That certainly isn't PS bypassing on the chip pins...

100Kpf

You mean 100KuuF, right? :)
