Chipamp'ed Computer Speakers - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi all, I'm looking to build a pair of "powered speakers", similar to standard computer speakers. My speakers will be 8 ohms and I need about 8W power per channel. I need a dual mono design, as I want to place each mono amp inside of the speaker enclosure, with the heatsink integrated into the back panel. My current box design provides for a 4" x 8" usable space on the back panel. Also, I'd like to power each speaker with it's own wall wart. Are there any designs that will lend themself to this application?

Is it possible to adapt the PCBs available at www.chipamp.com to be powered by a wall-wart?

Someone else suggested modifing a Sonic Impact T-amp, which sounds like a good idea, but I'd really like to go with the dual mono design, so I'm not sure if this would work.

Thanks!

Even simpler design.

Edit: The SI is ideal for the job and one I would consider.

Use two of them. One in each speaker enclosure.

if you used two sonic impact T-Amps you could also have one in each speaker and Bi-Amp the speakers! so say on the right hand speaker you would have one channel of the amp running the tweeter and one running the woofer.

how's that td2007a amp' going ?

Tda2005 has similar internals.

It has 4 amplifiers inside..you can assemble two of them in bridge mode and this will produce more than 12 watts rms with 0.004% of distortion...something near the audibility..almost nothing of distortion...many others, using 12 volts, only produce this power with big distortions alike 10 percent that is the same as reproduce music in one crashed speaker filled with small stones to shake.

The other two amplifiers can be used for left and rigth speakers with wonderfull 4 watts undistorted each one...and flat response.

this is used as a 2.1 speaker system, having a subwoofer of large compliance and an input filter made using an operational amplifier...something alike 4558 or zilions of others.

It may fit your needs...i have one and i feel good to listen it....the power is not more and not less than needed, and distortion is small in normal levels of audition.

regards,

Carlos
