Hi,

I opened up my pc speakers and they contained a tda2007a chipamp.

The ST internal schematic is making my head hurt !

What type of input stage is on the tda2007a ?

Explain what you are using as a schematic for the real amp. I might be able to tell you if you are going to need to fret the internals or not. ;) Don't worry for now.

PS: I think I might build one of these :)

Hi,

The chip was inside my active pc speakers powered by a 12V dc supply. Looked to me like a standard datasheet implementation. The potentiometer was failing after four years putting dc onto the left speaker (which is now failing) and throwing the balance way off.

After searching the forum I think the chip has a single common-emitter input stage.

Here are the speakers. Can't do that with a flatscreen!

The input stage is a common emitter single transistor amplifier followed by a emitter follower. The equivalent internal circuit diagram seems to have broken the rule that input to output is usually drawn from the left to the right.
