i am powering my 100 watts Rms 8" dainty from a TDa 2030 4 IC stereo board...( 40+40 watts) with tiny heast sink
whhich demands 12-0-12 at approx 5 amp.... i modified my car battery charger to deliver approx 15 volt @ 3 amp...
now IC r boiling hot after a few minutes of operation... can that be due to the above power supply prob... please suggest a solution |

U have made a dual supply (+/- 12V)from a single output charger, is it right?
Hope the charger is fitted with filter capacitors, and the voltage does not increase beyond the IC specs.
Fix a bigger heatsink for each of the ICs.

First of all, does the amp has single supply or dual supply?
If ur amp needs dual supply, your charger should have centre taped transformer, if not forget it.
The filter capacitors can be any value from 2200 microfarad to 10000 microfarad. The capacitors should be rated for 25 volts or higher. U can connect capacitors in parallel to add up the values. Watch polarity and on first power up, keep your face/body away from the assembly.
TDA2030 needs less than +/- 18 volts. so 15 volts after filtering is ok.
U better draw what u have done, and post so that we can be sure.
