HI,
I've been building a few amps with the LM 3886 and they sound excellent. Now, I'd like to upgrade a pair of small computer speakers. The 3886 is not good for this because there's only +12V available.
Can somebody suggest a clean and nice chip for this task? I guess automotive chips could work ok on 12V, but I have no recent experience with other chip amps besides the 3886 family.
Many years ago I used a TDA2005 but I think it shuld be something more up to date that that?

I would suggest the TDA2003 chip.
Why?
It's cheap, reliable, it's easy to work with, and it's sounds rather good, too!
Your 12V supply is just excellent for this chip, 'cause it's developed for small car-amplifiers.
Many TDA2003 amp were built, and the diyers were all pleased.
And yeah, in some places it's available as kitset too.
So go on, and let's use TDA2003.

Tks for your suggestion.
I have some TDA arround, so I could try. By any means, it will be a night and day situation if I compare with the lame electronics that this speaker have.
But I was looking for something more modern. I think that the TDA 2002-2005 series is more than 15 years old.

Philips are currently recommending the TDA85xx for modest-power ICE but they're still over 10 years old. And changes from TDA20xx seem to be more bells & whistles, though supply rejection is better. A quick rundown, Car stereo designer's guide 2004/2005 |

I wonder what's available in National's line of small 12v chip amps. I'll have to take a look there.
