That's a very nice start!

Where did you get the transformers and heatsinks?

Paul
GeWa
That looks like a solid construction!

BTW, can this thread be used to post in for all the ZenV9's that are going to be build?

Hi,

The heatsinks are from Conrad,

The transformers I think are imported by the supplier (Jaycar) from China. Yes its going to be a heavy beast.

Why not post all the Zen 9 in here. It should be fun.

Nice work can't wait to see it when your all done.
I am going to order some heatsinks from Conrad for my Aleph 5 I plan on starting here soon.

Hi Ian,

Very nice package indeed. What are the two heats on the back for specifically?

Graeme

Very cool  Extra heatsinks for the "regulators"?
macka
Hi eveyone,

thankyou for your comments.

Those vertical fin heatsinks are are for the Power J fet and are insulated from the chassic on nylon spaces and nylon bolts (per the article). They are rated at 1.1 c per watt so with the Power fet disspating 4- 6 watts will operate at 29 c temp in a room ambient temperature of 25C.

ps I hope to post more images soon.

I will be watching this one. Very cool.

Cheers!

Nice case. Are those transformers from Jaycar? what voltage are they?
macka
The transformers are twin 40 + 40 300 va. I want this amp to last .....

I propose to run the secondary windings in parrellel and if need be burn of a few volts to arrive at 50 dc under load, the filter capacitors are 15,000+15000 63 volt.

Some more progress at last.

today I green etched the pcb.

Resist etched the copper

Drilled the pcbs

And stuffed the pcbs.

You will note I have used some Auricaps for the authorised audio bypass capacitors. The main capacitor is rated 80volt.

Most of the parts are standard meta film 1/4 watt, some Dale 1/4 I had on hand and some Panasonic FC in selected postion.

The main pcb will run flying leads to the IRFP240's on the heatsinks with gate stopper resisters soldered directly to the pins.

I will try and make an effort to get it fully assembled by next weekend.

On Friday I have an RDO so that will be a Diy Passlabs public holiday!

Another angle, distortion graph included!

This looks less demanding than a 4/5 way crossover:D

I hope so, the box is always the hard part so I made the 1st this time.

the yellow condenser bypass C1 ?
which is its value?

Thanks

Phill
Mad_K
Wow, that main cap is one big fellow ;)
macka
Hi,

Its still in the works.

The bypass caps are Auricaps.

Hello Macka

I am afraid not to understand well, or not to render comprehensible me well!

a small drawing is better than long word, it would be possible to have other photographs of the PCB, under other angles.

thank you by advance
