Hi,
I just got back from a surplus sale and ended upp getting
about 20 pcs of 6aw8a tubes. Since I know next to nothing
about tubes and tube based amplifiers I thought someone
at this formum might be able to help me out.
In other words: Is this tube useless for audio or not? If not,
any suggestions would be welcome! ;)
Thanks

I have been thinking about using them as a preamp/driver, with that hefty pentode section triode wired. A LOT cheaper than a 12DW7 / 7247. I have about 20 of them myself. Mini Williamson:
2 x 6AW8, 2 x 6CZ5 |

maybe triode strap the pentode, use it for gain, and use the triode as a cathodyne.
I guess you could get a little more creative than that though..:xeye: |

Thanks for the replies!
Tom Bavis:
I was thinking of a pre-amp myself. Do you have the schematics for the Mini Williamson?

:D
Do any of you know the specs of the 6aw8a?
I did a search on the net and came up empty handed. :(
For instance:
*what voltages should be used?
*what are the pin connections... :xeye:
I think I managed to come up with the following by examining the tube:
(seen from below)
*4 *5 *6
* 3 * 7
* 2 * 8
* 1 * 9
1. Cathode
2. Gate
3. Anode
4. Heater
5. Heater
6. ?
7. ?
8. ?
9. ?
Sorry for the rather basic questions, so far I only know ss.
Thanks again!
