Hi,
im not sure if this is the right section but i have a 5.1 creative p5800 set of speakers but no powersupply with it. it takes a 13.5v ac input but i was wondering if i gave it a 13.5 DC input, would it be ok??

Assuming it has a fullwave bridge inside, Yes.
It will even "auto correct" for polarity,doesn't matter which polarity the connector tip is. ;) |

what if i fed it 12v or something slightly higher like 14 or 15v. would it be ok on those??
just wondering as i have a spare 12v dc and a variable 14v-20v.

Maybe you should open it up and see what the PSU looks like on the inside. Then you'll have a better idea of what you need to do.
If it needs 13.5 volts, the amp could need 13.5 x 1.414 = +-18VDC to run. Try to get the voltage specified.
Maybe try and get a transformer with a 12VAC secondary.
That'll be closer than 12DC and then you don't need to mod it. |

| U can connect 10 to 18 volts DC supply .Most creative incl mine has got rectifier and filter capacitors inside the main unit..the adaptor only has a step-down transformer.i have used 12volt car battery to power up my PC speakers which doubles as back-up power source for the UPS.. |
