Cross over Neo8 PDR and Neo 3 PDR - Click HERE for Original Thread
Jeroenkv
Does anybody know a good crossover between these units?
Just to give me a quick start, final crossover will be tuned further. I want to use them open baffle.
jmiyake
I too and intrigued by the Neo 3 and Neo 8. Have you progressed on this speaker combination? Please let me know.
Jeroenkv
I'm working on a speaker with a Neo3, two Neo8PDR's and a Scanspeak 25W. Filter middle/high will be passive and low / middle will be active.

I have the wood in house and first parts are glued to getter.
jmiyake
I am very interested!

rho
Yep, I'm interested too.
Don't know where but I think I've read somewhere that someone was using the 8 from 400Hz up to 5kHz, where the 3 takes over.
Jeroenkv
I was think about 600hz 24db active and 5khz -6db passive. First tests looked promissing.

How is the sound of the Neo 3?
I have an very old heavily modified T120 K in the ML-TQWP's, might replace it. But to be honest, i want an all new diy speaker....

I have made a quick design with a d'appolito around a dipole radiating Neo 3, and two alu mid bass drivers. A 60 degr. cone on backside of Neo helps radiating the sound through room.
And as you see in avatar, made some 360 degrees radiating tweeters from simple dome's too.
Jeroenkv
I have currently a Neo8PDR dipole together with a Scanspeak 18W in BR. Crossover at 800hz.
rho
Jeroen, are you thinking about bi-amping the final speaker or didi you use the 4th orde active x-ver just to test the performance of the NEO8?
Jeroenkv
I'm going to use an amp for low and an amp for mid/high. Low is divided form mid/high via an active -24db Thel filter and mid and high are divided passively.
rho
Also DIY amps?

Keep us up to date, this is a very interesting project. :)

(You're not going to Breda?)
Jeroenkv
I will.

Bass enclosures are almost ready. I just have to make the holes, but I have to go on a business trip first. After that I also have to do the open baffle for the Neo's. Next weekend I hope to do some work!

What is in Breda?
rho
I'll keep an eye open for more news from your side. :)

Breda: DIY-day from www.zelfbouwaudio.nl
Jeroenkv
I cannot find any information about Breda  . What is it and when is it taking place?
rho
Here you go:
Luisterdag in Breda

I'm afraid they are fully booked. :(
Jeroenkv
Nice day, but the only "special" speaker is the one from Jeroen_d. Maybe next time I'll join.
rho
My last project wasn't too "special" either, but to the audience it sounded "special" for sure. (in a good way that is :D , :smirk: )
Sometimes there are some real surprises in very simple projects.
Jeroenkv
I was thinking about new developments. Like the dipole of Jeroen_d. Of course "normal" speakers can be very special to (nothing wrong with them), but some "new" ways on such a day would be nice to share.

What was your project?
rho
I agree. New developments are very intersting at such events.

My latest projext
Jeroenkv
Nice "normal" project! ;) :D
rho
Thanks!
They sound even better then they look. :)
Ang
seems like the project might be finished now - would love to hear your overall impressions
