hi,
i came across these cheap linear halogen bulbs on ebay that go into a r7 base.
They're used in work lamps and outdoor spotlights etc. They range from 150w versions to 1000w. The best part is that they're less than 1gbp for a twin pack on ebay.

if anyoneknow if they would be good in a diy projector, let me know. also if anyone know the colour temp or lumens, that would be great.

Not good, huge amount of heat and not a point light source by a long shot.
How much heat? Well, I can light up a cigarette in seconds, half an inch away from a 350W bulb. |

i cant really afford a metal halide lamp, only a halogen.
But i am going to be putting a 120mm fan blowing at the bulb and another 120mm exhaust.
also will i need to put a uv filter infront of it??? and will i need a cold glass on the lcd?
