I am looking for a speaker design that is tall and narrow. Height is not an issue - I just thought tall for volume - but I would love to find a design with a box about 8"X8" in length and width or less. Any ideas? Also, as far as a driver, I'd love to use a 6" - I used a pair of FE166E's on another speaker and really liked them - but am not committed to a size . Also price ~$200? Any ideas?

You could try Ron Clarke's Austin FE166E from www.fullrangedriver.com
About 8" across and 4'something" tall but possibly too deep for you.
I built a pair and was very impressed by the sound, although I haven't done a blind listening test with any benchmark equipment yet.
