Shunt stereo attenuators - Click HERE for Original Thread
Stefano
Hola guys!
It's very long time that I'm in trouble with what type of attenuator buy or realyze myself.

Ordinary potentiometers are pretty good if you can make a selection (there are various industrial amp makers that can achieve very good performances with noble or alps selected), but as a diyer I cannot buy more than a couple and so no selection is possible.

Stepped attenuators series type are not the ultimate solution, ladder type are too much expensives, shunt are intristing but not cheap.

So I'willing abuot to use a conventional linear dual pot (wich could have very good tollerance without being too much expensive) as a shunt with a very good series resistor.
Has anyone tryed such approach?

Or is that the shunt element has to be log type?

Any info is very appreciated!!!
