Hi DC,
There are many resources for kits & projects. Need a little more info from you.
What do you want to use them for? HT, music?
How large a room?
What's more important clarity or thump?
What kind of woodworking skills and tools do you have? There are a lot of excellent kits and pre-made cabinets out there if you don't want build that part of the speaker.
As far as reading schematics go, crossovers are pretty easy and straight forward (hell even I can read them).
