I like Americans, and I like America. But, I might have to revise my opinions. James Blunt at number one in the Billboard chart! Are you guys on drugs or something? :D

Each time I hear James Blunt, it make me smile !

It seems that he is really sad, like if he were singind and crying at the same time. And I also think his voice looks like a duck.

Apart from that, it's not that bad, better than the martians singing and old dorethee's song.

I cannot believe how my local classic rock radio stations are overplaying this guy. I can't understand why they would play it at all, much less twice a ******* hour.
-_nando-_
I think this guy have LOOOOOTS of money, and he don't know what to do with this... So he PAY to radio stations play his "song"...

Is the most played music here, since months ago, I CAN NOT BELIEVE.

His music is AWFUL... I'm talking about "you are beautiful", horrible, I can't believe how he can sing it so bad...

:( :redhot:
jleaman
I actually like the song "you are beautiful" If it is not played every 45 min :)

You mean they have bad taste?

James Blunt is also high up at the charts here in Sweden and he is played _all the time_.

BTW: Have you heard Robyn and "Crash and Burn"? Has anyone heard of Robyn outside Sweden?

Robin Carlsson had her great break when she was 16 and she writes her own material and the lastest single is just cruel.

The most weak, insipid, uninspired (never mind uninspiring), mindless drivel I have heard in ages. I loath it with an utter and total passion and physically cringe every time I hear it.

OK, so he's popular. But I wonder -do 99% of those who buy and 'like' it do so because they actually enjoy listening to this stuff, and admire him as an artist? Or is it simply that they have been told it's wonderful (though for the life of me I can't figure out how anyone could think that) and they're following like an especially unassertive sheep?

So I'm going to come over unpleasent here -so be it. But I think we know which of the above options it is, don't we guys.

I'm with you, more exciting artists are available.

I don´t like a bit that music, but...

Let Him Be, please!!!

A lot worse can be done!

At least, there is no ****ing derriere-shaking teenpop a la Christina Aguilera or Britney poisoning the airwaves all the time...

Hehehe...
poobah
Sounds to me like he should team up with that girl from the Cranberries.

:D
davidlzimmer
I guess I'm lucky. I've never heard him.
Scottmoose
Believe me, you don't know how fortunate you are.
paulb
If you get tired of Blunt, you can always listen to David Gray.
EWorkshop1708
Can't get tired of the blunt you roll up. :D

But I agree, that James Blunt song is awful.
poobah
EW... HUSH-UP!

Hi,

An email was sent around work a few weeks back that was along the lines of "Subject:- James Blunt tickets..... Unfortunately I cannot make the James Blunt concert in London so I am offering my tickets. Anyone interested please ... blah blah"

Well everyone hated James Blunt in our department, and you could hear a few chuckles around the office when that email popped into inbox's.

Imagine 14,000 people singing that You're beautiful song ! :dead:

What record company is he signed to ?
psychocow21
Yeah, we have James Blunt in Australia and everyone I have asked about him hates him (with a passion) so I can not understand how he manages to sell so many records, mabye it's rigged.........

Yes, it`s difficult too understand some mass behaviour, mostly when everybody`s hates what everybody`s listening...

Here in Argentina I have my bete-noir : some guy Arjona, an center american who landed here because, for sure, their landfellows expatriate him... He looks like Bono -only the looks, not the attitude- and sings **** about ¨mistresses of the fourth decade¨ -some fourtysomething and decaying woman that he finds beautiful for the sake of faux sensibility, and...for the love of the masses-, in a language that belongs to some cheap newspaper...
My definition: music for pussies. The man has a look, a cheap attormented attitude, a lot of demagogic hooks...

Ahhh, some women... even hailed the man as ¨a poet¨.
TV commercials have more poetry than that MoFo...

I believe that Garcia Lorca, Rimbaud and Yeats are crying in his graves...:bawling:

It still baffles me that annoying no-talents like Akon, Rihanna, Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson and the like sell all the records and talented musicians like Les Claypool and Epicure don't get any airtime.

I gave up on the radio long ago as all they play is main stream music. The only Exception is Triple J here in Australia, they play alternitive stuff, AKA, the stuff we actually want to listen to. LOL.

Peace Out.

That 'beautiful' song makes me want to :yuck:.

Blunt is not in the same league as David Gray. Whereas Blunt is like a whinging pom (as the Australians would say), Gray is a modern, edgy folk singer -- although concede his voice can be a bit grating at times.
RobWells
1st time I heard a song by him and they said his name I thought it was rhyming slang.;)

I think Blunt's music appeals to a certain type of female in particular -you all know the sort. The ones who wear white trousers with gold sandles and tops, and who drive little Chloe and Tarquin to private school in pointless BMW 4x4s.
kec
Aw, come on guys. You're all just jealous. He's got the chick and the cash. 2 out of 3 ain't bad :)

OK, I don't listen to the radio that often and I've heard that song on my alarm clock. But, I'd rather hear that than Britney, Jessica, NSYNC, Christina or whoever the pop star for the month is. OK, maybe JB is the pop star of the month :) Note to self: change alarm clock station to jazz or classical.

Man, I don't even watch American Idol (one of the few, I guess). I really despise what it stands for. The same people that vote for the winners are the same ones buying JB's album. Some of those idol wannabees may be able to sing, but can they write??? It's not just about the singing.

facundonu
i don't think they can even sing. some may have very good technics... but peter hammill can sing.
RobWells
Funny - I'd rather listen to Britney or Christina than James blunt.

The vocals on Christinas new single are excellent. JB is just whiney and miserable.

What passes for "music" is often times nothing more than a contrivance, an attempt to market something that can be forced down peoples throats. Commercial radio, as well as most "music video" channels (not sure why they're still called that when they don't usually show music videos) flat out SUCKS! Just my own humble opinion.
davidlzimmer
Ditto Big time!
Scottmoose
Amen.

Actually (and I never thought I'd say this) I'd rather listen to Britney too. I can't stand her 'music' but at least it's honest about what it is (slick drivel). Blunt is portrayed and marketed as some form of soulful genius. The dishonesty makes me want to reach for the screwdriver. He's not the first and tragically, he won't be the last.

Heck with it. I'm now going to clear the mind with a blast of PJ Harvey. Perfect for terrorising Blunt fans.
kec
I'm clearing my mind right now with a little Soul Asylum - Silver Lining....

Jijiji, they´ll run away with the *** flaming!

Just compare the balls of ¨Meet Ze Monsta¨ with that ¨You´re Beautiful¨ effemination...

Some guys born in castration...

:D ;)

I like the version she did in 1995 at Glastonbury. Flat to 25Hz with the right speakers.
