I have a few extra USB TDA1543 DAC boards. See my website for details on the board.
Anyone want to trade a pair of OPA627AP or OPA627BP opamps for a board? Check your sample pile you might have some collecting dust. Note this board uses two of these opamps.
International trading is fine with me. |

Damn! Only AD797's.
Board looks interesting. I'll have to bookmark your site for later reading.

Brent,
Obviously your trade is complete but I am certainly interested in your DAC. I assume the DAC is entirely separate, and can be used without the preamp...correct? How soon will you be offering boards (your order form link is incomplete) and will the DAC board be available alone?..pricing estimate?? Thanks in advance.

Hi Guys.
As long as I am using OPA627AP/BP in a design I will be willing to trade a pair for a board.
I have been holding off starting a thread about my board/kits until I have all my parts. RoHS(Europe's no lead in parts spec) has created temporary shortages in some parts including OPA627. So here I am trading boards for parts.
The board I am trading is really two circuits on one board.
The two circuits are 1) DAC and 2) Preamp. The board snaps in half on score lines. The resulting two circuits can be built and used separately. When used together as one board I directly connect the DAC's outputs to the preamp's inputs with wires underneath the board.
A preamp circuit is included on the board because:
1) The DAC needs a preamp to sound its best. The DAC alone sounds somewhat uninteresting. The DAC produces close to 2V peek-to-peek output like a standard CD player and so you can use the DAC circuit without the preamp; but once you try it with the preamp there is no going back.
2) To be able to directly connect this DAC to a power amp. The preamp includes a volume control before the buffer. The output of the preamp is around 50 ohms and can easily drive 10 power amps, long interconnects and/or headphones. The OPA627 in this circuit is very stable (fool proof) and sounds very good when using the specified parts.
Bare boards for sale? Sure. I will try to get my order-form live tonight or tomorrow. Half boards will be for sale as well. Full kits for sale? I am still waiting for parts for the kits. Probably end of the March.
There are less expensive DIY USB TDA1543 DACs available to build. This DAC/Preamp combination is a result of many hours of listening and tweaking. No secret, the DAC portion is mostly a clone of Peter Daniel's DAC except with a USB interface instead of SPDIF interface. I have been following Peter's work very closely and agree with his findings. He is the nicest guy you are every going to meet. I have his "ok" with what I doing along with some conditions, for example I will not be adding SPDIF to my DAC. |

I like the idea of the pre-amp and the USB interphase.....
How much will PCB cost? |

Took me all night but my order form is up and taking orders now :)
Probably a bug or two in it yet.
For those who don't have OPA627AP/BP chips to trade:
Full board price is $49 CAD or $45 USD
Just DAC half of board is $39 CAD or $32 USD
Just Preamp half of board is $32 CAD or $30 USD.
