AM/FM radio receiver - Click HERE for Original Thread

I wanted to build a radio receiver to go with the input receiver, xo, and amp im already building. I've been considering two options:

1. Buy a boombox and hack it apart for the radio module.
2. Build it from scrath

I would prefer to build from scratch so I could receive HD radio, but locating the parts is difficult. There's a project over at mp3car.com in the hardware section, but getting the IC's for the radio is difficult.

If I hacked it from scratch, would it matter much which digital boombox I pick? Radio is pretty crappy to begin with so I don't the quality would matter that much.
