Hello all.
Ive decided to build a preamp after the albert kreuzer model and I wanna put it in a chassis that can be rackmounted.
But Im having a hard time finding a company that produces a 19" metalbox. Cant find them on ebay either.
Theres loads with psu for a computer but i cant really use those.

| Just about any decent component supplier (RS, Farnell etc. - whoever you have locally) will have a range, or you could try a pro audio store. If you don't want to spend much, look - and ask - for surplus / faulty lab, industrial or broadcast gear, and replace the front & rear panels as necessary (and get a load of good components into the bargain) |

if you want new cabinets, the maximum horizaontal length is 17" (43cm) -- this allow 1" of breathing room on both sides --
look at sources of used networking components -- I bought 3 1-R cabinets from a dealer in NJ -- they were obsolete product, only slightly banged up and I got a bunch of BNC-connectors and small Acopian linear supplies in the trade-- |

Rack cabinets that don't cost way too much....are hard to find.
One that you can get is the Middle Atlantic economy series but last time I had one they were part steel.

Interesting: I was in Aarhus and Horsens last summer on business. I had a lovely time -- you live in a beautiful region.
I don't know what the shipping costs will look like, but you might also want to consider Hammond, Bud and Par-Metal. Each company offers rack mount audio enclosures of varying quality and price. RS Components and Farnell will also have rack mount enclosures, but theirs are probably of lower quality.

Try Elfa Denmark
Trimlog in Sweden also has 19" rack-mount chassis. And it's usually cheaper than Elfa. |

thanks for ur fast and usefull answers.. Ill check it out.
I think im going to find a usefull case on ebay and use the components inside for something else. Otherwise it seems like ELFA could be a good option.

You must have read my mind.. think this must be the way to guy.. afterall we're diy cause we wanna diy.
If anybody has something usefull lying around for a small price I might be interested. Europe preferred due to the EU customrates
