| If anybody know how to use the power in fire wire of the I-pod to power a dual JFet or supermatch pair LM194 as current buffer for I-pod. I find the higher acoustic of I-pod output is still far from ideal. If we can make use of 2n5912 or LM194 that should be good:) |

There are plenty of headphone amp designs out there, several of which are portable. Since you are talking about using it with an ipod, I would imagine size and portability would be a major concern to you, as would battery life. It would probably make some sense to go with a battery powered opamp design for a portable amp, as using power from the ipod will be quite low voltage, and reduce the already not so great battery life. Check out some of the following pages, some have pcbs that you can buy now, some are working towards that, some you are on your own to get boards for, but it can be done, and some are done on protoboard.
