Amp6 ordered... what about additional parts? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi,
Finally ordered a 41Hz Amp 6 :D . Hopefully, it will be shipped soon. I wonder what are the recommendation on internal wiring? Which signal and speaker cable to get?
Also, what about the box? Most I found on Digikey and Part Express are just plain aluminum box. Any good looking one?
For the transformer, I'm thinking about the 50VA toroid 15v from Digikey. Can't find anything good on Part Express for that.

That's lot of nice boxes. Are they available in the US? Any other not too pricy?
Also, any recommendation on internal wiring?

For internal wiring I use shielded cable for the inputs and stranded copper wire for the outs. Keep it short.

If you can find an old computer monitor or VGA cable, it's a good source of small, high quality coax for your inputs.

For the speaker outs I have been using a silver coated copper wire with Teflon insulation. You can get it at Apex Jr , but there is a $20 minimum order.

If you just want a few inches of 4 colors, send my an email. See my sig.

The important part would be the shielded input wires. The speaker wires are so short, any decent copper should do. Same for power. I use solid copper bus, stranded elsewhere.

Hi,

for lower prices, take a look at the 20 series from par-metal :

http://www.par-metal.com/

For internal wiring, I use 23awg solid core silver plated copper wire for the input signal. Solid core sound better them stranded wire. For the output, I use 16awg stranded silver plated copper

good luck !

Hi,

This is a small case I use to house the various flavors of my Tripath amps. It is from www.par-metal.com. These cases are very sturdy and come in various sizes and colors.

This is an SI rebuild which I use to run my AKG K1000 headphones. Next in line for the case is a 2020 amp from a kit by Autocostruire.com.

Best,

Paul
