Hi guys.Now I know that I don`t know what I want.
I looking for any sub speaker with good basses.I want a driver who can destroy a room with 70 square metres.I want make 2 bass cabinets with design like this:
but passives.I want a good sound for min to 500Hz.
I know only for two drivers of Dayton Audio for the moment ,but I don`t know nothing for their quality or sounding:
DAYTON RSS315HF-4 12" HIGH FIDELITY SUBWOOFER
I can`t find any review or more info for this model:rolleyes:
DAYTON ST305-8 12" SERIES II WOOFER
I wait so impatiently because this choise is too hard for me
 |

May be if you are sure in the quality and about this speaker I can try to buy the Assassin 12".I can`t buy Peerless because Bulgaria is a very poor country, but In this poor country The price of all Peerless drivers is
double in comparison with the price in Germany.I can`t give 400 euros for a 12" Peerless XLS driver:bigeyes: .This is a robbery for me.
The Assassin is a beautifull driver, but I feel nervy because this driver have a 4 ohms imp. and the other speakers for the channel are with a 8 ohms imp.The other problem is that I work with electronics, not with speakers, and I am in need of any help for the calculation of the cabinet:rolleyes: |

The Dayton hi-end drivers are also 4 ohms.
If you use a plate amplifier like in the design you're showing us, no problems with a 4 ohms driver.
Yes I'm sure the Assassin 12" is a very nice driver, but you should look with the owner to see if they ship overseas.
With PartsExpress, it's easier to get your driver shipped.
You can't order a Peerless XLS in germany and pay half price?
There's nice software tools to design enclosures these days. Choose and order the driver you want, and we will help you design the enclosure. |

Thanks Simon.The conception is:
I can buy the Peerless drivers from the shop in Bulgaria for double price or get the money for the precious shipping, because for bulgaria the price is cosmic.
I have one friend in Washington and I think that he can buy the Assassin 12 and bring it to me in Bulgaria ,but I can`t find any information for the weight of this speaker:smash: and any graphics.
It `s a good option if you know for any European online shop who sell the Assassin, but?:cannotbe: |

| BAM |
| Consider the AE Speakers AV12. It's probably the closest thing to the driver in that Aerial Acoustics subwoofer cutaway photo. |

looks like a tc sounds one to me IMO but hey, i could easily be wrong. if youre ordering a decently large amount of stuff from partsexpress the shippping price becomes more reasonable....
if you did a box similar to that one, but taller, and put two 12s in each and a ice big plate amp at the back, it would be deadly.
research a bit on sbwoofers to make sure that what youre making will give you the kind of bass you want for your room. also no matter how big and powerful a sub is placement is very important, or else it will sound weak.
or you could always do a group buy, find some friends that also want subwoofers and order a large shipment from partsexpress. i live in canada, and even then its usually cheaper to get from partsexpress than it is to get something locally. |

Guys I look for two options:
1.I have two speakers Sony S-333.I can remake this speakers with two Eminences Alpha 8 for the mediums-500hZ-3.5 or 4 kHz and Eminence APT:150 for the high`s.When I can buy only one
DAYTON RSS315HO-4 12" HIGH OUTPUT SUBWOOFER
700W Rms,4 ohms and combine him with 600W Quasi MonoBlock@ 4 Ohms (in Progress) or buy two Ascendant Audio Assassins 12 :smash:
Who is the better variant for me?I want destroy my house.
@I speak for the psychnodesis-too low bass and many high`s :hot: |
|
|
| simon5 |
Hi,
Why you can buy 2 Assassin at 95$ and only one Dayton 12" HO at 104$ ???
2 Assassins is definitely better than a single Dayton.
To destroy a house, two drivers is better than one. |
|
|
| ZuMbAiU |
Because I have only One Mono Block 600W RMS@4 Ohms and because and the Dayton driver with 700 RMS have minimum 390W RMS.
I have many problems because the Ascendant Assassins I can buy only with PayPal payment(in Bulgaria I can`t open a PayPal account) and because the shipping cost 300$ for my country. This is a very big problem :bawling: |
|
|
| simon5 |
Oh, you have a single amplifier with 600W RMS @ 4 ohms.
Buy a single Dayton or a single Assassin because these are rated at 4 ohms already. A single Dayton will be good, don't worry. |
|
|
| ZuMbAiU |
simon5 I can buy and the high output model but only if this amp can supply this two monsters.I have only 600W@4 Ohms for the subs and 370W@ 8 Ohms for the medium/high range speakers.
I think that I can only buy the Dayton drivers from partsexpress, because the Ascendant Audio can`t ship for Bulgaria the Assassins.
But i can`t decide what model?-HIGH FIDELITY SUBWOOFER or HIGH OUTPUT.This is the situation.
For the medium`s I want buy the Eminence Alpha 8 and for the highs Eminence APT:150 from Bulgaria. If any have any suggestions for the mediums and fot the highs can post here, because may be for the highs and I can buy and DAYTON PT2B-8 PLANAR TWEETER ,but......:smash:
EDIT : For the subs, second block,I have only the PCB and all elements and I can buy one PCB more=and with this PS I can give on the drivers 2 mono blocks x 340W@4Ohms. |
|
|
| simon5 |
Oh ok you can do 600 x1 @ 4 ohms or 340 x2 @ 4 ohms, nice!
High output is if you want smaller boxes and slightly less excursion/SQ.
High fidelity is if you want bigger boxes with slightly more excursion/SQ.
So yeah buy one or two of these. Ask PartsExpress to use USPS if you can, you'll save tons of money I think.
Your amplifier is more than enough for two of these, don't worry about that. |
|
|
| ZuMbAiU |
And what is the difference in the capacity of the cabinet?
How much liters cabinet is the optimal or may be the recommendet cabinet for the HIGH FIDELITY SUBWOOFER in your opinion?
This is very importantly for my choise?:smash: |
|
|
| simon5 |
It depends on how low do you want to go.
Sealed you can build almost any size with any woofer. The hi-output will be able to give you more low bass in a smaller box, but the hi-fidelity can take more power because of the higher excursion but less low bass.
Vented if you're going with EBS tuned to 20 Hz, you'd need around 3 - 4 cu.ft per subwoofer for the hi-fidelity. You'd need a smaller box with the hi-output, on the other hand you would have problems tuning that low because ports are going to be too long.
So, what size do you have to work with and what are you looking for?
20 Hz thundering bass? 40 Hz club bass? |
|
|
| ZuMbAiU |
| I want a bass who I can feel in me and free of any hearing. May be 20 Hz thundering bass and what is the driver for me? |
|
|
| simon5 |
| What's the biggest box you can tolerate? Or what's the two biggest boxes you can tolerate if you're going with two drivers... |
|
|
| ZuMbAiU |
I can`t assess :smash:
I have a free space in my house.I want only good bass and I can sacrifice a little more free space.:cannotbe: |
|
|
| simon5 |
| Go with two hi-fidelity drivers then! :) |

I just finished (yesterday!) a Dayton 12" RS HF sub, and I am quite impressed. My box is 2.1 cu. ft., and I used a Bash 300W plate amp from Parts Express with +4db boost @ 22Hz (obviously the amp isn't important to your setup!). With the size of my room, this sounds pretty good, but I don't have any measurements yet to let you guys "see" how it sounds.
My wife even commented on how nice it sounded, noting that it wasn't at all noticable as a sub and that it blended very nicely with the main speakers. I am mainly using it as a HT sub (4 1/2 movies so far :) ), but the music tests I have make have sounded quite good as well. I wish I had a basis for comparison for other drivers, but this is the first DIY sub I have built, so all I can say is that it sounds a ton better than anything I have ever auditioned at Best Buy! :D
Bottom line, I would recommend the Dayton RS HF subs to anyone who asked.
Good luck ZuMbAiU, whatever drivers you do choose! Be sure to let everyone know how they turn out. |

dfdye can you post any pictures of your great sub or any schematics.
I want take a first-hand look for the dimensions of this cabinet with this driver.
Thanks! |
|
|
| dfdye |
I am still stuck in the stone age and don't have a digital camera, but the outside dimensions are 16.5" X 20" and it is made with MDF. I attached a cutout sheet to give you a better idea of what it is like. Each side of the box has two braces running in the short dimension with two cross braces connecting opposite faces of the box. The cross braces are connected to the "rib" braces ~1/3 of the way from the side of the box, with the rear cross braces on opposite sides as what is shown in the figure below.
Construction tips: I cut all of the 16 1/2" dimensions a little large (usually ~1/2") and use a flush cut router bit to trim the edges square prior to rounding over the corners--5/8" for the face and back and 1/4" for the other edges. I use liquid nails for assembly because I heard somewhere it helps with dampening, although I have not personally done the experiments.
All inside joints are caulked to ensure no leaks. To finish the box, I just primed mine because it will not be in plain view, but if you want it painted to look nice, I would use bondo to fill any cracks where the MDF panels join. I am shocked at how well it works as a wood filler, and if applied properly, it seals the cut edge of the MDF fairly well.
Hope this helps! |

| Here is a picture of how the internal bracing works. The illustration is, of course, looking into the front end of the box. Reverse the sides of the braces for the rear set of cross braces. |
|
|
| dfdye |
One more thing I forgot to mention, The braces and inner front/back should be made of baltic birch plywood if you have it, but I was a slacker and used MDF. If you want to use a shelf brace like that in your first picture, that would work equally well, but I was saving wood when building mine.
Just some thoughts. |

Hi
dfdye!
Thanks for the help! The partsexpress mail for me from Julie Johnson:
The estimate delivery charges for the 2/ 295-466 DAYTON RSS315HO-4 12" HIGH OUTPUT SUBWOOFER (weight 26 lbs each) are as follows:
UPS Worldwide Express (2-5 business days) $523.35 estimated shipping - estimated total w/ parts $731.35.
Guys the price of this shipping is great. This is a gold driver may be?
The sipping=4 or 6 drivers more. The Dayton HF cost 104$
I can`t believe:bawling:
If any can help me with any offer for the cheapest shipping I can`t decline it.
I can wait for this shipping and 6 months, but I want only low price for this.
If any can help with the calculation of this bass-reflex:
For DAYTON RSS315HF-4 12" HIGH FIDELITY SUBWOOFER
Will be great.I have two cabinets Sony S333.I make him the cabinets for the high`s and medium`s and I can dissipate more MDF for the subs. :smash:
Will be great if any can give a link for any dealers or online stores for the Dayton Speakers not too far away from me in Europe.:cannotbe: |

I have no idea about options for cheap shipping, but as far as the ported enclosure goes, the Dayton RS High Output is supposed to be better suited to ported enclosures. I am sure you can do a search to find more info, but the summary of what I know is that the sound quality is still very nice, the power handling is substantially higher, it is designed for ported enclosures while keeping most of the same design features of the HF.
I have not tried to design an enclosure for it since I wasn't interested in a ported sub, but you should give WinISD a look and take a shot at modeling it yourself if you are interested. I was quite impressed at how easy it was to get started, but I also have not yet looked at how it models ported boxes--they aren't really my cup of tea. Good luck! |

Use USPS.
NOT UPS.
USPS.
United States Postal Service.
It will cost you 108$ to ship a 52 lbs package to Bulgaria with an insurance of 325$ (to cover both woofer cost + shipping cost).
If PartsExpress want to ship two boxes, it will be 60$ shipping per box.
