Hi, I have joined this forum to try and learn more about the fascinating world of vacuum tube audio that I have just recently discovered. I have read what seems like very much, but seem to be missing some very basic stuff. Rozenblits book, though well written and informative, is over my head. The newbie post on this forum and the boozhound hi-fi primer were the most help. I own several preamps and amps but its not the same as building one! I hope some of you will have some compassion for an old worn out pipefitter who really wants to learn. Thanks in advance! Jayman

Hi Jayman, welcome to the forums.

If you're looking to understand the wonderful world of tubes, Morgan Jones does a good job explaining it and getting you going.

EDIT: that link is just the second edition, I think there's a third now.

Welcome to the forum. This is a particularly good place to work things out with fellow tube-o-philes.

Start with a good, solid grounding in basic electronics. Make sure you understand Ohm's Law. Kirchoff's Law, Norton and Thevenin equivalents, and the like. Without those tools, it will all be pretty incomprehensible.

Morgan Jones's book (Valve Amplifiers, 3rd ed.) is a must-buy.
