It seems fairly common that the caps in the power supplies go bad after a while.

I have a cheapie $40 DVD player that was fine for a month, then started skipping and freezing..
One of the electrolytics in the PSU was buldging!

Same with an Apex player I have here, power supply caps.
But I think it needs a cleaning also,it's still being kinda funky at times.

Replace the filter caps, and maybe add a bit more capacitance,if you like.

Maybe Kalik34 invites you to come over for diving etc. if you do the repair ;)

You'll get no sympathy from me. Try living in Michigan. We're expecting 5-7 inches of snow overnight, and then I get to shovel it clear in the morning :bawling:

Regarding the original topic, it could be a fault in the power supply someplace as was mentioned, a laser problem, or the motor that spins the disc could be failing.

Is this a DVD changer or otherwise expensive player? I ask because these things are so cheap now it may not be worth the effort to try fixing. I know locally I can get a really nice progressive scan player for $40, and a cheapo model for half that.
