Reduce DAC output current ? - Click HERE for Original Thread
Bernhard
Hi,

how can I reduce the output current of a DAC by 100 or so ?
Any active circuit with op amp for 1 x current in -> 1 / 100 x current out ?
Petter
I recommend that you look in Horrowitz and Hill, The Art of Electronics - as per my memory, there should be current divider circuitry using resistors (passive) in there which might help you + a bunch of active circuits. It is a really good book. You can also do some interesting things with current mirrors and also mess with the reference setting of DAC devices (even that is usually already optimized).

However you also mention discrete. To me it would be easier to set up a bunch of current sources using either resistors against a fixed voltage or traditional current sources.

I understand that one of the issues with a resistor network is noise. Good luck and let us know how you fare!
