I’m trying to use a stand alone DVDROM in my sound installation.
I use a AOpen DVDrom with buttons on the front for controll.
I use the SPDIF and a separate DAC. The DAC rebuild the whole signal in every way.

Is there some one who has the same solution?
How is it sounds?
I have seen commercial products who use the DVDrom IDE output connected to a small print.
From that print you have the analogue signal and digital out. Anyone who now were I can find a schematic for that solution?

I've been looking into the same thing myself. I have an old ACER DVDROM with the play/skip, Stop/Eject buttons on the front. The back has and audio out which works just fine, but I cant seem to get my dac to work with the digital out.

I've seen a few projects here related to this if you search you'll find a lot of info.
