About KT aka Katie, Kate Bush in fact! - Click HERE for Original Thread

Well, after listening to KT's new album 5-6 times, I am stunned. Is it just me or is that lady just so unique as I think?? This new album is just about the best CD released for years! Very mature kind of adult semi-classical pop! Not easy accesible but after a few listens the album just get stuck in your mind:) I have to admit, I have been a fan of Kate Bush since "The kick inside" and loved all her albums. But the new one is just sooo good I go dreaming when I hear it:) That lady really sings for us:cool: Any oppinions, beside mine??:) At least you Pink Floyd fans should love this album:) Kate, I am all yours:D It took 12 years to make this album, but it was worth the wait:) For you HIFI-nuts, the sound is very, very good indeed!!

Who has time for music?

When all amplifier outputs drive scopes and multimeters ....

Is there something wrong with your multimeter steenoe?
Did you smoke your dummy load?

So now, you have to listen to music with loudspeakers connected.
Poor chap!

Yep, and I cant think of anyone better than Katies new album:D :D Well Lineup, between the solder fumes, you have to stop and listen to some music, dont you??:D

Good album. Felt like she'd never been away when I listened.
pinkmouse
Scott, surely you're not old enough? ;)
Scottmoose
I'm not. Well, not entirely. The Kick Inside was released the year I was born. But I was brought up on a diet of Kate's music along with Led Zep, Dylan, Floyd, Captain Beefheart etc.. The music on those albums are some of my earliest memories.

Sounds like a healthy diet, to me:)

First Kate's song that I ever heard was of course "Running up that hill" - it was catchy, slightly unusual pop song, but it was still pop - and at that time I expected that Kate Bush is some mainstream pop singer with few crazy escapades - but I wanted to be sure, just in case that I don't miss maybe something interesting so I borrowed two CD's : "Whole story" (Best off) and "The Dreaming".

And then I realized that I was totally wrong:she's crazy singer with little pop escapades fortunately. :D

"The Dreaming" is great album IMO, someone tried to described her voice as "Bjork meets Tori Amos" combination - that's maybe closest description of that album - crazy but again totaly musical.

Her music and singing style at first glance seems slightly wierd and unusual, but after few listenings everything fits perfectly.

:)
steenoe
Hi Bubba. Yes you are right, the Dreaming is an absolute favourite of mine too:) Love Hounds is normally rated as "The" album to have, but I cant agree. It has a bit too much of 80's sound. Its great allright, but not the best. The 80's by the way did produce one thing though: Loads of bad music!!!!:D Its the worst decade in the music history, at least to my ears. You really had to cling on to a few artists, hoping for their next release:D
Well, to cheer you up, here is a pic of my complete Kate Bush studio album collection:) :) Nice view, right??

I still cannot find her new cd here in Malaysia, Tower is the only international chain and they don't stock it. Are they trying to get me to pirate?

Its an EMI release; Kate Bush: "Aerial". Your local CD pusher can propably get it home for you. Its a 2 cd package;) Luckily enough, considering the quality of those songs:cool:

Steenoe, you're going to be in big trouble if I don't like Ms Bush's recent effort. I've just ordered it, plus a copy of "Lionheart" to replace the one my cat chewed (don't ask).
Cobra2
you should also try "Happy Rhodes" !
More info & order here: http://www.auntiesocialmusic.com

Arne, any particular album you can recommend as a starter?

I am not shaking at all:) If you liked any of Kates earlier albums, you will like this one too. The lady grew up in the meantime, and her music tells. You wont hear a lot of that "small-girlie-pip-pip";)

Steen:)
Cobra2
- will be a good start.
And I promice you that there are several better tracks on the album, than the clips she presents on her web-page!

Found it in a tiny music shop in an old shopping mall. Only RM55 which is UKP8.

I really like it, well recorded too and not compressed to death like so much music these days.

Nice to see Lol Creme on it, I miss 10cc

Well, that all sounds hopeful. 10cc played our local pub a few years ago - how the mighty are fallen!

I noticed, that Gary Brooker is on the guest list too (the guy from Procol Harum) That explains the very well sounding hammond organs, I guess.

Thanks Arne. If I have to order from the states, I would like to order more than one, though;) The postage will be a bit heavy for a single cd. Can you recommend two more? I guess 3 cd's isnt too crazy to order from overthere?? Where did you get yours?

Steen:)
Cobra2
no other preferences.
Why not get a copy of them all...?

:D :D Ofcourse thats the way to go;) If its nearly as good as KT, I think the investment is justified:) I will visit that Auntie site again:)

Steen:cool:

Edit. Where did you learn of this artist, I never heard of her before.

Thanks for the recommendation, steenoe. "Aerial" arrived this afternoon, and I'm partway through listening to it for the second time (listened to "Lionheart" in between). Much better than "Red Shoes".

I was one of a group of a few kids that sang a bit for one of her songs many years ago :)

The used to scare me when I saw her on TV (I was about 7 or 8) but she was actually really nice in person and not scary at all :D
steenoe
She can be a bit scary, at times;) Take a look at this pic:
http://gaffa.org/wow/k48.jpg
While you are at it, take a look at some of the other picures as well. I guess its just part of her artistic expression.

Steen:)

If ever there was a page crying out for thumbnails... ;)

Having looked as a few of the pics, I see them as artistic now... Mostly.. There is the odd scary pic ;) She really is a performer :) There are some really sweet pics of her, that's kind of how I remember her :)

I think the 80's are mostly to blame ;) :D

Yep, Katie is sweetness itself:)

Hi Steen,
" Aerial" is a great album, :D but has she developed a lisp or had her tongue pieced, perhaps it's my system.?

Barry.
