My parents own a pair of speakers badged HFS.
They are floor standing and unusually, the main speaker cone faces upwards towards the ceiling -- ie, it is mounted horizontally on the top of the speaker cabinet, rather than vertically as in other speakers. This gives the speakers a very pleasant appearance, because all the listener sees is an attractive wooden cabinet.
In addition, at the rear of the speaker cabinets at the base, there is a rectangular space which presumably pushes sound out towards the wall !
Can anyone tell me why these speakers were designed in this way. All I know about HFS is that they were based in Sale, near Manchester (UK) and that Denis Healey (Former Labour MP) purchased his HiFi equipment from the same place. I know that these speakers cost quite a lot about 30 years ago, but I'm mystifyed as to their technical merits.
Can anyone enlighten me ? Anyone heard of HFS speakers ?
