Aleph 1.7 PCB - Click HERE for Original Thread

This is my first thread on this forum...

I’m on my way to build an Aleph 1.7. And I would like to have some comments on the PCB layout I’ve done, my first one ever.

When drawing the prototype I prefer to do it with thin tracks, the final version will have broader ones.

I would split the psu and preamp.

Nice work... but....

It seems like you have mixed something with the input and output signal.. Both input + / - are shorted with the ouput over R72 and R57.. The input signal also seems to be connected with C15,C16 and C14.. respective on the other phase..

I think you have placed the input at wrong place... it should be placed to R6 and R5

I think I would try to get som more space around the FET's. Easier to put some heatsinks on them.

Input/Output GND is connected with R3.. ??

I'm also working on a Aleph 1.7... Drawing it for 2-layer PCB, not wery easy.

Thanks for the responds…

skaara: you are so right, to make the hole thing more flexible, I will separate the preamp and the PSU.

audioPON: you are so right too
- I have put the inputs at wrong places; the inputs should be at R5 and R6.

- I have considered more space around the FET’s. But since I will use Mcap capacitors, and these are not that small, I find it difficult to get this space. Do you have any ideas? First I’ve hade a thought about make it a double side one. But since this is my first project I was recommended to not.

- R3 symbolizes the pot that controls the gain of each channel. Are you going to have this pot or will you put a fixed resistor instead. And if so, which value will the resistor have?

I am not shure how much heat must be dissapated, maybe it is enoght with a alu. strip that is formed like an S og U...

I will keep the R3 pot.

I am working on a Aleph 1.7 here is my prototype

Nick, Looks nice, what type of coupling caps did you make room for there?

Nick, I think that you have done a nice work too.

How have you done the design, which program are you using?
