Read what happened to me today:

tonight when me came home, was happy to find a letter from AD, with two AD1955 in it amongst others. Samples are great!

Later, I was looking at the 1955's, lost in thoughts, as I said to my honey:
"Oh, just how shall I solder this?"
"What?"
she said.
"These very small pieces here"
I said.
"Let me have a look",
she said, and I handed them over. Soon she flipped the tray, and with a barely noticable "plush", something went into a glass of clear water which was standing in front of her. It was a chip. Of course it was both chips.
"Oh, I thought they were fixed in this..."
she said, and I could only smile. Sometimes you just don't know what to say or do. I dryed them without touching them and put them back into their tray.

Do you think they are damaged?  :hot: :xeye: :yell: :gasp: :gnasher: :ill: :Ohno: :sigh:

Yours,
Lukas

No. PCB's with chips and other parts mounted on them are regularly washed with soap and water after assembly - often in an ordinary dishwasher. You're safe. Enjoy.

Second that, many professional circuit board shops DO use dishwashers on their circuit boards. ;)

eek -- did'nt know that, thanks guys :D

Now you cant wash ALL parts.

Switches, relays, tranformers and potentiometers are some exceptions. Look at the data for the part: It will say "sealed" or "process sealed" if it is safe to wash.

Chips, resistors, and caps may not say anything though. Most all of them are ok to wash.

I thought your dishwasher was the one who knocked over the tray of chips??? :D
anatech
Ouch! There's no surviving a comment like that!
poobah
Sorry 12 Cents,

Chris... some things are just TOO hard to resist. :D

If it means anything; I am the dishwasher and chef in this cave.

Hi poobah,
No female company? She must have heard you out loud.:xeye: :clown:

I live with three girls and my wife. I watch my tongue. Even the dogs are female (not the other way around!). One thing I've learned, do not poke the hive!

-Chris ;)

Hi poobah, sorry accepted ;) I dont make this kind of jokes anymore, too, not loud.....

Hey Chris, if he's the dishwasher, that doesn't mean he's without a relationship... :smash:

Actually guys,

I was almost a free man up until a few years ago. Then I fell... now I have 3 new daughters and my original daughter. So count 'em, FIVE women.

I don't let my dishwas.... oops!... I mean women read the forum. The only place I can hide and play.

And I really don't do the dishes... but I do make the mess! Cooking is only the only form of engineering where I can get anything done in less than 2 hours!

I appreciate your concern though!

12 Cents, what country are you from? (I don't know flags very well)

Rob

Hey Rob,
No problem with me so much, it's just you're a fair target for a female engineer / tech / etc .... Duck man!

Another one bites the dust .....:clown:

Enjoy the company, it keeps you civil (works for me anyway).

Your up early...

Don't we have work to do?
