Vishay Angstrohm???? - Click HERE for Original Thread
Thomas001
Hi all,

I got some resistors from surplus store and from the marking it is a RNR60c made by Vishay Angstrohm. The resistor is beautiful, it has a glass body with gold plated lead. Does anyone know if this thing sounded any good? I have attached a spec. from the vishay site for this resistor. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Tom

I don't know, but if the leads are non-magnetic, I sure would give them a try myself. If metal film resistors are made without magnetic leads, it is very hard for me to distinguish any difference; you need a very revealing system (in my experience, YMMV) to hear the differences between the good and the very best.

edit: And the differences I heard were very small anyway.

Given my druthers, I'd rather go with bulk metal foil resistors,
but this is certainly a very high quality part and probably very
much more expensive than a conventional non-hermetic
metal film resistors. It certainly has 'eye appeal' and excellent
stability, Tc, etc. If anything, it would be overkill in almost any
audio design.

Whether it will 'sound better' than most resistors could only
be determined by a listening test.
