Terminating a coaxial (isolated) interconnect - Click HERE for Original Thread
Alves
Greetings.

I have cut in half a pair of Wireworld interconnects, in order to make two shorter pairs, using WBT-0108 connectors.

The problem is that on these coaxial cables the micro conductors are isolated. Thus, no signal passes to the WBT connectors.

How can I remove the isolation from the micro conductors in each end, so that the current flows?

Thanks and regards,
Alves

Use your soldering iron, to remove the insulation on the little wires...
I do it with a 50 watts iron, a piece of hard wood, good solder with resin core
and roll and press the cable under the iron ; it takes about 30 seconds to get it done...

Hi Alves,

You could also use just the soldering iron (without solder) to melt the insulation, for that W108 copper-to-copper connection. Donīt forget to crimp the wires after.

Cheers

Alain and Paulo, thank you very much for the tips. I will give it a try.
Yes, the WBT-108 are the crimp version. I have tried the solder version RCA WBT-101 with WBT solder and the results were not so good as just screwing (crimping) the wire directly to the WBT-108. Possibly, my solder technique is not the best...
