Well, since you say everyone deserves credit: I'm honored to be associated with such a fine effort :Pirate:

Is it a Gainclone???
edjosh23
Wow,
I wish my first GC looked that nice.
Is it the 3886?
How does it sound?
Tell us about the chasis.

VERY nice!!!
I especially like the way you geared the volume pots.
Keep up the nice work.
What'r ya building next?

neutron7
very nice! could you post a closer pic of the gearing arangement you have for the volume controls.
demon2091tb
That looks awesome how many W are ya getting out of it....Also got a schematic....i'm looking at possibly building something soon but not sure what yet.

The case was made out of .125 6061 plate screwed together with flat head cap screws. The front is made out of .375 6061
with an acrylic ring pressed into a hole that was bored in the
face. It is lit by electroluminescent wire behind the ring. The knob is flush with the face and supported by two bearings.
The gear set up is made from RC car gears I hade laying around.

The amp is BrainGT's LM3886 kit

Here is a pic of the gear set up

Congrats-thats one smart piece of kit

neat.

For a first project, that is mighty fine work, congrats! Very impressive consruction and metal work.

Nice gears, how are they working out?
Here are my preamp gears. Other than needing a lot of force on the handle you are turning, and you needing to be careful about how far you turn them (and the direction), they work great.
Russ White
Very good work, congrats!
dod996
The gears work very well. There is only a small abount of resistance required to turn the knob about equal to the resistance of the two pots together. It was a pain to get the alignment just right.

Igreen, those external gears look awsome.

karma
nice;)

Nice job!

It's great to see the power supply in its own "box", essentially.

Would you be willing to say more about the details? The transformer looks potted...very nice. Where did you get it? What voltage did you go with? What kind of posts and rca-s are those? Etc.

Again, congratulations!
dod996
The transformer is a Plitron 2x25 I got off ebay, the pots are PEC from digikey the post and rcas are from parts express.
Other than that it's a standard LM3886 kit from BrianGT.

Tony
Evilsizer
where did you get the the alu and was it already finished like that?
dod996
The aluminum is 6061 t6 sheet stock from McMaster Carr. The finish is black anodizing from Pittsburgh Anodizing.
