i've made a pcb in eagle for GAINCLOWN

bacause i'm not a profi in this could someone check the pcb for mistakes??

Schematic
PCB

i will be glad for any comments

:clown: HONK HONK!
zatramusic
haha :) what's the honks for ? the first is for good or for bad?? and what's the second for ?

Gainclown

This is a clown: :clown:
And clownes sometimes us a horn to go HONK HONK!

Sorry, nothing in reference to your actual PCB.
zatramusic
hehe... i understood...

and like i wrote "any comments"

:)

i'm still waiting for replies

Why dont you use a non-inverting configuration... as shown on the datasheet.

Also you'll need bypass caps in parallel with C1 and C2 100n should do fine.

I haven't looked at inverting schematics yet but shouldn't the feedback resistor be approx 20k instead of 200k and then R1 could be 1K.

You'll keep the 20:1 ratio.

I'll try to add a picture of you're schematic.

Ahhhh... That'll do little pig;)

Gain clown the biggest joke I heart in years, and the shortest too :clown: :clown: :clown:
Edit: and how do I open gain clown schematic and board? LOL

as i wrote i'm not a profi... i found that schematic on platenspeler's site
http://www.platenspeler.com/diy/amp...ainclown_1.html
but i've seen nuuks inverted gainclone on his site and the feedback resistor has too a large value...
i choosed the clown because of 6 (7 with the input cap) parts..

try it with your mouse :clown:

If you would convert the Eagle files to PDF you might get more comments. I can't look at them since I don't have Eagle.

hi zatramusic, is this place jestered or something? :clown: What do you think I will try opening with my tongue? Well I close envelopes by licking but that's the other way around....aaaargh
Back to AFF almost as funny as here :clown:

Rod Elliot made a design based on the LM1875. Go to www dot sound dot westhost dot com. Try to get the datasheet for the ic aswell from National.com I'm sure theres an Aplication Schematic in there.

I've build an amplifier using the TDA2050 from SGS-Thompson aswell. In that datasheet there's a PCB layout aswell ( They've got the same amount of pins (5)) Just check the pin names(functions) for compatability.

I'll try to have a look at the 1875's datasheet aswell.

P.S. I'm new to but +- 2000000 hours of staring at datasheets and annoying everybody with dumb ( no such thing) questions and we'll get there!!!:D :D :D

Hi zatramusic,

I downloaded your Eagle files and had a quick look. I couldn't see any major problems.

I have made a similar P2P LM1875 IGC - see attached schematic. The schematic was drawn years after I made it, so I haven't triple checked it.

I think there is a vertical LM1875 (TO220-5V ?) somewhere in the Eagle libraries.

regards
zatramusic
ok...i'll do that
zatramusic
here it is..

i will be greatful for that :)
zatramusic
Hi Greg

thanks for the schem..for now i'll stick to the one i posted...and than if everything will be ok...i'll change to yours and try to hear the difference

so you say it doesn't have any major mistakes?? and what about minor ones?? :)

Hi Michael,

By major I meant an error that would prevent the amp working.

I reckon your posted schematic will work fine. We can all speculate if you need R3 (10k) or bypass caps on the main caps. But IMHO these are just details to be determined by personal experimentation. :D

From memory, the schematic I posted was close to Peter Daniel's recommendations before Peter (and Brian) changed over to non-inverted gainclones.

Good luck
zatramusic
o...i've build it.. and i have distortion problem (again..because i build a lm1875 amp before) the distrortion doesn't change with the gain it's constant.. :(

Try changing the resistors to 470R, 10K, 470R (R1,R2,R3)

in the one i've build?? the inverted one...i thought that the loop resistor should have a bigger value..at least bigger than 10K. but i'm not a profi...so are you correct??
zatramusic
does any one have a clue whac could be wrong?
zatramusic
no one?
zatramusic
the distortions are the same on every volume...
they seam to rise with density of the sound

what can be the cause of that??

please help
Peter M.
It is probably just the gainclown having some fun with you.. apart from the distortion can you hear any strange honky noises from your speakers?:D
zatramusic
no...only music and distortions...

it's a sad honkless clown
zatramusic
??
mic_ael
hi zatramusic,
why dont you try the non inverted one... just look for rod elliot gainclone ( sound.westhost.com/ ). its great sounding, no distortion, no humming...

keep 100nF filter caps near the IC;)
zatramusic
hi... sorry i wasn't online for some time..
i've made the ni design and everything is fine now

:)
mic_ael
that's better;) nice to know...
how do u feel, you made your own great sounding masterpiece ?
:) :)
zatramusic
:) hehe..masterpiece no..but a good sounding aplifier yes..now i'm building a preamplifier but unfortunatly analog has some problems with sending samples... i tried to sample ssm2404 for source selector ..everything was fine then i recieved an email that analog has problems with my email adress and my order is canceled :(
zatramusic
maybe someone knows with what can i replace the ssm2404??
